John Travolta came onto the big screen as big shot Danny Zuko, with a hairstyle as major as his ego. The greased look, as it was, was taken from legend Elvis with jet black hair slicked with as much hair gel as you could get your hands on, twisted and quiffed at the front to the highest height possible. Keeping the sides combed, this was the smoothest look of the 1970s!

For the girls out there, it was a must to look like Sandy whether it be good girl or bad. Olivia Newton John started out as good Sandy, with her beach blond hair cut neatly into a blunt fringe with the rest hanging delicately to her shoulders, sometimes secured back at the sides with Kirby grips. To make sure she kept her squeaky clean image in tact for the beginning of the film, Sandy tied her hair up for the cheerleading bonfire with a pretty red bow. Bad Sandy however, was having none of that! Bad Sandy is as well-known as good Sandy, with her full-bodied head of curls standing far from the face. The hair got bigger and blonder, and the fringe disappeared as bad Sandy came on to the scene!
