Fire Safety For Children
It's no secret that the cause of the majority of fires is careless attitude of the people.
A significant portion of fires occur at home. 9 death and injury cases at home out of 10 are caused by smoke and fire.
The main causes of fires at home are: careless handling of fire while smoking and cooking, the use of electrical appliances, television, using not adopted video and audio devices, an electrical welding and repair works in apartments, children games with fire.
Apartment Fire Safety:
- Don't play with matches and lighters. This is one of the causes of fires.
- Do not leave apartments with devices turned on, especially irons, heaters, television, lamps, etc. Do not forget to turn them off when you leave.
- Don't dry underwear over the stove. It may be caught by fire.
- Do not forget to turn off the gas stove. If you smell gas, do not light matches or turn on the light. Ventilate the apertment urgently.
- Do not light fireworks or sparklers without adults at home.
If the fire started, and the adults are at home:
- If the fire is small, you can try to extinguish it immediately, throwing a thick cloth or blanket over it, pouring some water or sand.
- If the fire is not extinguished immediately, run away from home in a safe place immediately.Then call 911 or ask your neighbors to do so.
- If you can not run away from the burning building, immediately call 911 and tell the address and number of the apartment. After that, open the window and call for help.
Smoke is much more dangerous than fire. Most of the people die in the fire smoke. If you feel that you are suffocating, start crawling to the exit - there is less smoke on the floor. Use moistened clothing to cover your head and go crawling.
Be sure to close the window and the door of the room where the fire started. A closed door can not only delay the moving of smoke, but sometimes extinguish the fire.
Fill the bath, buckets, basins with the water. You can pour the water on the door and on the floor.
In case of fire in the stairs, never get inside the elevator. It can get locked and you will suffocate.
When firefighters arrive, listen to them and don't panic. They know best how to save you.

Do not panic and do not lose your temper!
