First Impressions - You Never Get A Second Chance

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

? Have you heard that before? Think about it, wouldn't you agree? Research shows that during the first minute a person meets you, they have formed their opinion. You have made your impression on them.

That being said, it is so very important that a person, especially a potential client, get the right impression of you the first time around. Here is a brief list of ways to make the right impression from the start:

Timing is so important. Timing can be everything to a potential customer. You must ensure that your customers feel as though you value their time. Show them that their time is as important to you as your own time. Train your staff to have the same urgency as you would with a client. Always apologize for delays, but try and prevent them from happening. Hopefully this will pay off in a good first impression AND your clients respecting your time in the future and showing up on time for appointments.

Clothing can make or break the man (or woman.) You own your own company and you are a professional, so dress like it. Never allow clients to see you dressed frumpy or sloppy. Portray the correct image in your clothing. Show customers you are a professional by dressing like one.

Confidence is everything! You know that you have a great product or service. You know how to run your business. Have confidence in yourself. Never allow yourself to be nervous in front of your clients. If you can not have confidence in yourself, your customers will question if they can trust you. That is the last thing you want!

The first impression must be the right impression. Be conscious of the image you portray. Teach your employees why this is important and what they can do about it. Give your customers an experience that they will remember and tell their friends about. Wow them with what they see. This will lead them to having confidence in your company and products, and in turn choosing your company to do business with.
