Fishing As A Hobby Is Not The Same As Hunting
When I first came across the idea of fishing, I thought of it in the same light as hunting. After all, both involved capturing some creature or the other. But over a period of time, I have learned to enjoy fishing, while finding hunting abhor able.
The first thing that I like about fishing is that it is a peaceful activity. Given the level of stress in our daily lives, is it not great to sit in silent contemplation in broad daylight, waiting for the fish to bite. And since fish do not bite every five seconds, a fishing outing is a significantly peaceful day, and a great way to get some time alone.
The second aspect of fishing is actually the opposite of the time-alone I referred to a moment back. It relates to camaraderie and team work. When you are out fishing in a group, preferably with friends and family, I have found that a unique bond develops between all participants in the fishing expedition.
The fact that you are all participants in the same activity, have a common goal, and are not in a frenzied hurry makes every one enjoy each other's company tremendously. This is what makes fishing significantly different from other sports. That coupled with the fact that one can actually have lengthy conversation during fishing makes it a highly social hobby.
Then there is the science and knowledge aspect of fishing. There are so many varieties of fish. There are so many methods of fishing. There is such a large range of fishing equipment. All of which leads fishing to become a sport in its own right.
Initially fishing feels like a hit-or-miss situation. You throw the line in and hope for the best. That is what leads many to believe that there is no skill required in fishing. But nothing could be further from the truth. Think back at the first time you went bowling. Even that seemed like hit-or-miss, did it not? You would just throw the ball. Sometimes you would drop all ten pins, while at other points of time the ball would roll into the gutter. It seemed like the ball had a mind of its own, and you could do nothing about it. Over a period of time, you became a skilled bowler and realized that there was some method to the madness, some technique to the randomness. Learn more about the Water Resistant 20L Bag. Fishing is likewise. So if you are not really good at it, and find that every one catches a fish but you, do not lose heart. Keep at it, read up some of the interesting fishing articles available on the Internet, invest in some good equipment, and you are on your way to becoming an expert at this enjoyable hobby.
Like any other hobby, it is important to be patient and give yourself time. Also, heed the advice of those who are much better at it than you are. Over time, you will develop as a fishing expert. And then you can come back and thank me by commenting on this article.
