Fix PS3 Yellow Red Light of Death Yourself at Home

The PS3 is a complex and technically-mastered machine, which I enjoy to play on most days, when I get the chance to. But one day, while I was playing the thrills of COD4, my PS3 suddenly and abruptly decided to take a break; that is a LONG break. But not only this, it displayed a mysterious, yet infamously known blinking red light. I then decided to give the PS3 a reset fix, but to no success. I felt furious and I just couldn't believe it; a machine of this quality (at least from Sony) is expected to withstand anything, but like electronics, it is prone to breaking down. So I rang up Sony with the number on the user guide that came with the PS3 and I was rudely told by a Sony representative that I would have to wait up to 6 weeks and that I had to be prepared to pay $150 US. You can probably understand how I felt, but I had no choice. I would much prefer to have a working PS3, but to have no PS3 is just inhumane; especially to my gaming addictions! After 6 long weeks, my PS3 arrived at my house. I set it up in its usual spot, in the TV room, and pressed the power button. You wouldn't guess what occurred next; a beeping sound, 3 in fact, followed by the blinking red light. I blew up, literally. I was so mad, that I just wanted to smash the PS3 right there and then. I had waited 6 weeks and paid $150, not to mention Sony didn't give refunds for the repair cost. Gosh I was annoyed. I learned a lesson that day; never trust Sony. After this, I was unwilling to wait another 6 weeks or pay $150 to Sony, who can't even repair a simple PS3 in my case, so I decided to do it DIY. What other options did I have? Other repair shops charge the same, if not more in repair costs. So it had to be DIY. Then I found
PS3LightsFix guide. I then purchased the kit and I was astonished to find: 3 Videos- These were very well made
One 67 Page Guide- Very informative
One-on-one personal help- Rob was very helpful through the email
24/7 Support- Kept his promise!
Bonus "How to get a stuck disk out", which was handy for me, as my PS3 had eaten my game, while I was playing!
PLUS, another bonus on "how to install Linux on the PS3", which came in great use for me because I had really wanted to install a PC on my PS3! So to prove whether this guide worked or not, I decided to use the guide/videos on a PS3 ridden with the Yellow Light of Death. And these were my results: The main guide was of a great help; it was especially helpful with the detailed images
The videos were also of a great help; I think they were the highlight of the entire repair
The support was great. I had emailed Rob, the author, on a Sunday at 3pm and got a reply at 5pm! Talk about speed! So, in the end it was definitely worth the cost. And including the bonuses I would say that you are stealing his information; I can't believe he isn't selling this for at least $67! If you face the same problem as me, you can get
