Diseases which are flea-borne may sometimes result in symptoms that are overlapping. Dermatitis due to flea allergy is the most common disease that dogs suffer from. The fleas saliva causes an allergic reaction in your dogs body that result in severe itching, respiratory distress and swelling. Fleas can give dogs two types internal parasites the tapeworm and the dipetalonema reconditum. Tapeworms are more common, and their evidence of them is usually seen in the poop of a dog that is infected. The dipetalonema reconditum is less common and usually lives in the dogs skin and causes severe itching. The tularemia disease results in fever, lethargy, appetite loss and weight loss in dogs. Though this infection is uncommon it can seriously harm a dog who is well aged. Both ticks and fleas transmit the haemobartonellosis disease. It causes anemia in dogs and oftentimes may result in loss of appetite as well as weight loss. Not only your dogs but your cats are also susceptible to this disease.

Even though the symptoms mentioned above can be used by dog owners to determine whether your dog suffer from any of these diseases, it is best if it is identified by your dogs veterinarian. The symptoms of diseases which are flea-borne are similar to each other and it is therefore important that a certified veterinarian conduct a physical check and lab tests in order to determine which disease is really present in your dog.


If these diseases are not treated, your dog will be at risk of having to go through extreme suffering. All of these diseases can be treated with the use of medication, and your dogs good health can be restored. If the fever resulting from tularemia is not treated, it will result in complications which can cause death.
