Following Our Parcels Around The World With New Technology
In the past when sending a parcel to anywhere in the world whether it was across
the country or further afield such as abroad in countries many miles away it used to be a difficult and drawn out process. The process was also worrying for some people sending important or expensive items as they would not be able to know where their parcel is and whether it has been delivered until the recipient called or wrote to let us know that they had received the parcel.
This uncertainty as well as the chance that our parcel could be lost in the mail has always been a sticking point for people looking to send parcels internationally, many people may have been reluctant to send parcels after either themselves or a friend or business partner having learned the hard way.
Fortunately these days parcel delivery has become more accountable and traceable to allow you to be kept up to date on where your parcel is at any point during the delivery process. This is a welcome feature that was initially only found with the more expensive couriers but now this service in some form is present on most parcel delivery services, the level of detail on this service often varies between service providers and the courier you have chosen.
Most couriers will provide detailed information about the progress of your delivery as they attach a label with a barcode that is scanned at multiple points during the delivery process. As the parcel is scanned at these points the information is then posted on to the couriers database to keep a log of where the parcel is.
With some less detailed systems you may only get confirmation that the delivery has been completed and in many instances you dont even get an electronic proof of delivery (EPOD) of a signature which is important so that you know the right person received the parcel and for the receiver to see if a neighbour has taken the parcel in for them as they were out when the courier came to try to deliver the parcel.
With this new technology now in place with most couriers and even the Royal Mail it is now much safer to send a parcel internationally and to be informed of your orders progress day by day. If you need to send a parcel to anywhere in the world make sure that you choose not only a quick service but also one that can help provide you with detailed tracking information to set your mind at ease.
