When my younger sister and I were a little older we would build whole villages on my bedroom floor. A fire station, a burger bar, a petrol station as well as a couple of self-designed domiciles made up a tiny world that we could be engrossed in for several hours on end. Quite possibly this undertaking inspired my teenage desire to be an architect. At the time I thought the fire station was fiddly to put together with its sliding garage doors, however that is not even a patch on this Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle.

To be honest, I can't wait until my kids are advanced enough to really appreciate Lego. Then I could be the one to create the extraordinarily over-elaborate design. It may be some time yet before they are able to build the more fiddly Harry Potter Lego sets. But I reckon maybe next Christmas or birthday some Lego Toy Story toys might be on the list.

I know that the Lego I had fun with as a child is stowed below the staircase at my father's home for all the grandchildren to use when they visit. I continue to wonder who appreciates it more; the kids or my dad. I'm certain that once my children have become adults they'll have a collection of Lego bricks that will handed onto future generations. I am fairly positive that all of the relatives either do have or will have memories of building with Lego just as I do.
