It is common knowledge that many people spend hours a night desperate to get to sleep
, but unable to do so. What might not be as common knowledge is why. There is many answers to that question, but I want to talk about the most common reason. It seems that while most people who struggle to sleep are physically tired, they are unable to relax mentally. This can be very frustrating as a persons mind races, and inevitably becomes consumed with the inability to fall asleep. The problem seems to feed itself. The more desperate to get to sleep someone becomes, the harder it becomes to actually relax and fall asleep. The question always becomes, what can I do?. desperate to get to sleep, is try to focus the mind on something else. This is not usually easy to do, and there are techniques that can be employed to help. These techniques will not always work like a charm, and they will only work if someone is persistent. When you are desperate to get to sleep, you must focus your mind on something else. The easiest way to do that is to employ a technique most commonly used in meditation. This simply involves focusing on breathing. While your mind will wonder from topic to topic, you should try to concentrate on your breathing only. As you breath, focus on the air going into, and out of your lungs. Try to concentrate on the detail of each breath, and try to make them all identical. If your mind wonders, its ok, as long as you bring it back to your breathing as soon as you realize it. This can be a very effective technique for those desperate to get to sleep, and the more you use it the easier it is. There are, of course, many other techniques. The idea behind most of them is the same. You need to get your mind focused on something besides the fact that you are desperate to get to sleep. Trying techniques such as this is a good way to stay away from addictive pills, and they can be just as effective if given the chance. So if youre desperate to get to sleep, do yourself a favor and give this technique a try. You have nothing to lose, and some much needed rest to gain!
