Forwarded E-mails And Viral Marketing

Thanks to modern technology, it only takes a few seconds to communicate to another person

, even if he or she is thousands of miles away. A few decades ago, this was unthinkable, as it was the norm then for letters to take days and even weeks before they arrive. Now, all that is required is a computer and the Internet, and letters will be sent electronically to the receiver in just a few clicks of your mouse.

As you are most probably familiar with, the technology being described is known as e-mail. It is an understatement to say that e-mail has had a significant impact in the lives of people, for in actuality, e-mails have changed the lives of people. E-mails are not only used for sending personal or business messages they are and can be used for marketing as well.

Viral marketing is a technique in marketing which mostly uses electronic word of mouth in order to reach its target customers and more. It is uniquely called viral marketing in reference to a virus, which spreads rapidly. Viral marketing ensures that the product or service being advertised would spread rapidly as well, using e-mails and the Internet as tools to make it happen.

E-mail marketing is very effective nowadays since there are a lot of users using the Internet and having e-mail addresses, some of them multiple. E-mail marketers send advertisements and other information regarding their product to hundreds of thousands of users daily. It is advantageous for advertisers since it is much less costly than normal, traditional marketing methods. Aside from that, it is easier since they just have to enter the e-mail addresses and click Send to market the product.

Forwarded e-mails are also very popular among e-mail and Internet users. Also known as chain mails, these messages often go from person to person, until after a short while, the e-mail will have spread to other nations. The viral effect is very evident here.

So how can forwarded e-mails or chain mails ignite a viral marketing campaign? It is simple once the advertisers realize the power and potential of marketing via e-mail, all it takes is to send the advertisement to a few people (preferably those who love forwarding messages to their friends) and wait for the calls and/or inquiries from various states and places regarding their product.

This is because more than half of Internet users check their e-mails at least once a day. It is a guarantee therefore, that a product advertisement would have made it into their inbox (not a guarantee that it would be read, but the chances are high). The downside of this is if it is considered spam mail, which always has a negative connotation to it because it is unsolicited mail. In fact, there can be hundreds of spam mail that can arrive at a users inbox in one day, which is extremely annoying.

In order to avoid this negative light and make the marketing scheme credible and thus reliant on the customers satisfaction and resulting referrals, it would be best to send a subscription form that the recipient can agree to or not. If he/she would agree on receiving the regular updates, then it is a success on the marketers part.

There is usually nothing more credible than friends and family members testimonials regarding something, whether it is a car you are planning to purchase, a restaurant youre thinking of going to, or in this case, a certain product being advertised. Thus, if a forwarded e-mail is received from a credible source, people will pay close attention to it. This can lead into a viral marketing campaign, even if the e-mail did not come directly from the advertiser.

With the reliance of the modern world in current technology, it is no wonder that e-mail marketing has become a legitimate option for businesses. Thanks to the technology, more businesses are relying on the Internet while there are even some that are online businesses, which rely completely on the Internet.

Viral marketing is very simple, once you get its concept. Once a first e-mail is sent, watch the viral effect as it spreads across Internet lines and into the inboxes of people from all over the world.
