Four Article Directories for Free Traffic

Article Directories are one of the best sites to help you to generate free traffic to your website

. Even though it may take more time to write an article than to upload a link to a social networking site, it is still worth the time that you spend into it.

The way that article directories work is that you write an article and then submit it to the article directory in exchange for a few links pointing back to your website. These links usually are only allowed in the resource box, which appears underneath your articles. However, some directories also allow you to have links in the article itself.

EzineArticles

EzineArticles is one of the most popular and best article directories. I find that I am able to generate the most traffic from this directory, as they help to feature your articles throughout the site for optimum views. Articles that are placed into the EzineArticles directory also have a good chance of ranking high in the search engines.

EzineArticles does not require that you write lengthy articles, as they will accept a minimum of 250 words per article. However, longer articles do better in the search engines in the long run.

IdeaMarketers

IdeaMarketers is another one of my favorite article directories as they also send you a good amount of traffic. IdeaMarketers works a little different as you can pay the site to give your articles more exposure. However, I have not done this, and still am able to generate fair amounts of traffic from them.

What I love about IdeaMarketers is that they will place a big bold link right on top of your article to help you generate more click throughs to your site.

ArticlesBase

ArticlesBase is definitely another favorite of mine! They allow you to have 3 links in the resource box as well as 3 links in the article. But note that any link that you place in the article or resource box that is hyper-linked does not count as a back link. But nevertheless, that is 6 links with one article, which is excellent for an article directory.

GoArticles

GoArticles is another popular site that helps you to generate free traffic. However, I do find that I do not get as much traffic from them as with the other directories.

There are hundreds of article directories online, and you can use as many of them as you like, but if you spend your time focusing on only a few, you will do just as well.
