Free Piano Lessons Right Hand Chords

While playing the piano, most of the music is in the form of notes or chords. Usually the heavy or significant bits while playing music on the piano happens with the left hand. Beginners will rely more on what to play with their left hand as these notes or chords are the body of the song which is being played. However intermediate and advanced piano players will bring their right hand into play as well. What they essentially will do with the right hand is play the same notes or chords but in a different way in order to provide a fuller, richer sound to the music.

Sometimes the free piano lessons skip over the right hand chords or fills to be played. This might not be so important for a beginner or a casual player but filling out the sound of the piano on its own or if it part of the rhythm section is very important. At some point in time even if it is free piano lessons, understanding the use and application of right hand chords will be required. So lets focus on how to play minor triads:

Now if you were to combine the 1st, the 3rd, and the 5th notes of a major scale, you would be forming the major triad chords. A minor triad happens when you lower the 3rd tone by a one half step. This is denoted by a b symbol which means a flat. So in a minor triad, the chords would be the 1st, the b3rd, and the 5th tones of the major scale.

So in free piano lessons, youd use your right hand to play minor chords which will provide a richer sound to the music. Lets look at C minor for instance. This chord has the tones C, Eb (E flat), and G. Minor triad chords are indicated by minor, m, min. and sometimes the hyphen sign. If you see any of these symbols next to a piano note (Eb, F#, C, D and so on), you would know the notations were indicating a minor triad chord.

Whenever you practice your minor chords on the keyboard, associate numbers with your fingers, and make them using your thumb, your middle finger, and your pinky of the right hand. These free piano lessons will help your right hand play minor chords which will create a harmony as your left hand plays the major triads at the same time.
