Free Reverse Directories - Are They A Joke?

In order to get down to the core of this question we need to investigate what a reverse directory actually tries to do.

You might be amazed to know that these services are older than you think, and have been used by the law for a long time. Sometime during the early 90's, companies decided that every day people could benefit greatly from this kind of technology as well, and started working on ways to make them a house hold product.

Now that we understand that, do they work or not? That is an affirmative - reverse phone lookups can work, but the free ones you should probably stay away from.

The main reason is that it is required that a fee be paid in order for someone to access your information through your phone number, and this is true for you as well.

Because of this rule, don't be fooled by scam sites promising you that you can do a reverse search entirely for free. This just isn't the case. Also, what little information they will provide you with will most likely be not so accurate.

If a site allows you to start a search for free and then asks you to purchase a cheap plan to see all of the data, this is normal. If a site is showing you information up front with no purchase - there is something wrong and you should avoid it like the plague, because these sites may have other agendas, such as planting a virus on your computer and telling you that you can use their software to remove it, after of course you have paid them 50 bucks or so.

So what is the solution then? before you become scenical or skeptical, know this. There are a good number of reverse phone lookups that are extremely trust worthy and have served countless individuals and helped them get answers.

How do these work? You can do a search for free, and then the will tell you whether or not they have found the person you are looking for based off of that phone number.

You then will have a choice of what kind of package you would like to purchase, which, if you go with a legitimate site, will allow you to keep doing searches for the rest of the year - no questions asked.

You only pay once, and its not going to renew, so you don't have to stress about untimely

charges.

At the very minimum, you should be able to get a person's name, their address and maybe

even some more data; sometimes including household members, phone service carrier and background records like military, lien records, etc.
