In fact, there produces many a junk file when you install some operating system or use the computer. It contains temporary files(such as:*.tmp,*.mp). Journal files (*.log), temporary helpfile (*.gid) disk check file (*.chk), temporary backup file (such as:*.old*.bak) and other temporary files. If you don't timely clean the "Temporary Internet Files" which locates on IE, its cache files will sometimes take up your disk space hundreds of MB. Those junk files not only waste your disk space but also slow down the system operation, especially the junk files in disk C. Therefore, it's time to free up the disk space.

Firstly, try your best to move any data to any other disk except disk C. And then uninstall any applications that you no longer use.

Another way: click the Windows Start button and type cmd in the search box (not in the run box), press "Ctrl + Shift + Enter"to open the command prompt with Administrator privileges. Click Yes if you are shown the User Access Control Window. Next, type c:>vssadmin delete shadows /for=c: /oldest to remove only the old shadow copies. If you system works normally, you can also enter c:>vssadmin delete shadows /for=c: /all to remove all the shadow copies.

The third way: use disk cleaner to clean the junk files. Click Start menuaccessorysystem tooldefrag.
