? What is freestyle rap?

Freestyle rap is one form of singing with lyrics that are basically randomized. The singer is called a rapper and the song is called a rap song. The lyrics are improvised and unrehearsed. This means, it is done and performed at the spur of the moment without pre-written lyrics. It is also accompanied by some beat and sometimes without any accompanying instrument. It is commonly associated with gangs and hip hop artists from all over the world. However, it is really a form of art and it usually takes a lot of knowledge and quick thinking on the part of the artist to gather his words and the idea at an instant, for freestyle rapping, it means you have to say something relevant to whatever topic or ideas being taken. It should also comprise of rhyming words at the end of every verse.

? Where did freestyle rap come from?

Freestyle rap is not actually new as some people think. It is actually traced to various tribes in Africa and South America many years ago. Recently, freestyle rap actually came from the East Coast hip hop scene in the 70's. Disc jockeys or commonly known as "DJs" in the clubs would use microphones to make freestyle lyrics and to keep the crowd alive. Then eventually, it became popular as more and more people started to rap their way up because they feel it is cool. Competitions between rappers started with the aim to do whatever you can to outrap your competition with your lyrics. These are often used as a way to disrespect a rival.

So, you want to learn how to freestyle? Better ask yourself these:

1. Will I be able to catch breathe for every verse and every lyrics?

2. Can I form any rhymes instantly?

3. Do I have the swagger to do rap?

4. Am I intelligent enough?

5. The most important one is do I have the talent?

We have to learn and understand something that is of interest to us. It is important to understand it really well to be able to do it well. Of course, without the talent, you can't do anything about it.
