South Kensington is one of the most fashionable parts of London, rich in history, culture and with property prices to match its exclusiveness. Fashion conscious ladies walk its streets, they may have come straight from the pages of a fashion magazine, the latest styles, gabor shoes, gabor fashion, and sometimes they have come straight out of those magazines because this is where some of the most well known people in the UK live.

Imperial College is in South Kensington, at least its main campus because it has buildings throughout London. It specializes in the fields of science and engineering, medicine and also business. It is world renowned and at any one time contains within its staff the most eminent of lecturers and researchers, several of whom have received awards as prestigious as Nobel Awards.

They can be very selective in their student intake as there are many more applications to study there than there are places. That situation is long gone and it's a costly exercise for student and parents to send their offspring to London for further education. Given the financial sacrifices which they and their parents make, it would be foolish not to take advantage of the good quality of education that Imperial can offer.

They study under the most expert lecturers in the field, the late Denis Gabor, just one of the lecturers at the College who received a Nobel Prize for Physics for work he had done in years before he went there, namely the development of holography.

A hundred years after it was founded, in 2007, it finally became independent from the University of London. It had been formed under a charter signed by Edward VII in 1907 as the authorities sought to improve the quality of technical education by merging some existing colleges in London, and that decision was certainly justified as Imperial has been an unqualified success in its specific fields.

Students may leave with a loan to repay but the quality of education Imperial provides can be a springboard to a successful and rewarding career.
