1. Spots

2. Powdery Mildew

3. Rust

4. Spider mites

Tiny yellow, red or green spiders on the suck juices from the plant leaving stunted leaves and flowers. Orthene or Isotox may help. Or you can take a cigarette and put it in a pint of water till the water turns brown the spray the foliage with the nicotine. Nicotine is a powerful pesticide.

5. Aphids

Brown, green or red tiny bugs that suck the life out of your roses leaving curled, mottled leaves are often very difficult to get rid of. You can treat with pesticide or nicotine as mentioned above add a little liquid detergent to the mix to make it stick to the plant better. You may need to get a commercial brand pesticide to kill these little buggers.

Whenever you use any kind of herbicide or pesticide protect yourself with long sleeved shirt and long pants. Use rubber gloves that are unlined, as cotton lining or other cloth material can absorb the chemical and end up transmitting the poison into you. Whenever possible use chemicals in the flowering plants at times of the day when now bees are about as bees are especially susceptible to pesticides and other chemicals.
