Shopping fans won't want to miss a visit to the North East's premier shopping centre, Metro Centre Gateshead which is one of the biggest and best shopping centres in Europe.

Featuring a Palladian chapel, a Gothic banqueting house, stables and a Column to Liberty, the original Statue of Liberty, Gibside also boasts miles of footpaths and wildlife including the area's famous Red Kites as well as Roe Deer.

Gateshead quays with its dramatic skyline offers the perfect setting for a romantic stroll and dinner for two at the BALTIC rooftop restaurant SIX. There can be a few restaurants with such a proud vantage point. Alternatively only a short walk across the Millennium bridge try the bar at the Malmaison and look back over Gateshead's cityscape, a stunning spectacle while enjoying a cocktail or two.
