Gay Sports Magazine Launches Nationally On March 1
, 2011
Arizona-based Compete Sports Media announced that Compete Magazine has entered a deal with Source Interlink International, Inc., to distribute the publication at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and a variety of regional bookstores across the United States to launch nationwide on March 1, 2011.
Proving itself to be a groundbreaking venture in 2007 when its first issue debuted; Compete Magazine continues to break new ground with this announcement.
Connie Wardman, Vice President of Operations said "We decided to go national now because we truly believe in our mission statement. Building a bridge between the gay and straight communities through sports is our real focus."
Eric Carlyle, CEO of Compete Sports Media said "While other magazines fight for readers and advertisers in this economy, Compete Magazine is entering an exciting period of growth. In fact, we offer our audience something fresh, new and original a sports magazine from a gay perspective. It's that originality that makes us different and allows us to grow regardless of the condition of the economy."
Carlyle said "National distribution is important for two reasons. While we are proud to be a predominately regional publication, the transition beyond our traditional Southwest distribution area is significant because it gets our product in the hands of a whole new audience of sports fans, both gay and straight. It's also noteworthy because it proves that there is a continued demand for quality print magazines."
