Get Approval Signatures on Hard Copies of All Baseline Documents
When I was one of 9 Program Directors of a major change program for one of the high
street banks in London, we each had to get a Business Case approved once a year on the 3 year Program. Approval meant getting the signatures of a large number of senior managers. All of the Program Directors and various support staff met once a week on a Thursday Morning from 8:30 to 10:30. The day after I was the first successful Program Director to get my Business Case approved, I showed up at the Thursday Meeting, announced that we had been successful in getting the Business Case signed and my PA proceeded to haul in a few bottles of Champagne and Orange Juice and we celebrated the occasion throughout the meeting with a number of Bucks Fizzes. Judging how well the meeting went, we all felt that it was something we should do more often. Get hard copies of documents signed, get commitment, and celebrate.
