. When you try to get dog to stay, something you may want to consider, is this method first. In order to improve your efforts, there are four things that people should try in order to be successful.

The first thing to do in order to get dog to stay, you should have the dog lie down in front of you. Then place an open palm in front of your dogs nose. Verbally give him the Stay command. Then say Good as soon as the dog follows your command.

The second thing to do in order to get dog to stay is to give him the release command after about one to two seconds. Then of course, followed up by giving the dog his treats and lots of good praise. You should reward him if he stayed even just for a second, as long as he understood.

The third thing to do in order to get dog to stay is to lengthen the amount of time your dog stays in the Stay command. Gradually and slowly move further and further away. Make sure you give the release command, every time the dog is successful with the Stay command.

The fourth thing to do in order to get dog to stay is to consistently practice in preferably the same room. This way you can avoid those little distractions. You want the dogs concentration to be focused on you and you only.
