Get Familiar With The Best: Skagen Ladies Watch Designs
A very exceptional story marks the birth of Skagen ladies watch
. Over 20 years ago, in the year 1986, Henrik Jorst and Charlotte Kjolbye were at a corporate party when they ran into each other and instantly fell in love; the definition of love at first sight. A little while later, Henrik's employers, Carlsberg, made him the manager of the North American marketing team and sent him to New York. However, Charlotte made her way to New York too, where they found each other again, and the rest, as they say, is history.
A friend of Henrik's from Denmark sent him some samples of his company gift watches, asking if there was a conceivable market for them in the United States. Using the samples as a starting point, they added their own fashionable touches, creating a very stylish end product. Surprisingly to them, corporate buyers were in love with their designs, and suggested that they make a brand name for themselves instead of only supplying to corporations.
Over eight hundred watches were created by Jorst and Kjolbye in four very unique looks with the brand name "Skagen Denmark." The designs of their watches, along with an uncanny intuition for what customer's are looking for, drove the couple to create watches that were exactly what people wanted. The couple ordered a set, and they were almost instantly sold out. The couple ordered more, and in the following year, thirty new watch designs were created. One particular buyer, who happened to own a huge mail order catalog, was so impressed with the Skagen watches that he put them on the back of his special Father's Day issue. They sold out even more quickly than before.
Moving on to the year 1995, a company named Bloomingdales took the Skagen Denmark men's wrist watches on a trial basis. They sold out in a single day. In 1998 Inc. magazine listed Skagen Designs as being amongst the 250 swiftest growing private corporations in the USA. Turnover had increased by 1200 percent over 5 years. A new office was opened in Denmark to set up ECU distribution and eighty stores in Denmark began selling the watches.
Skagen Denmark already had almost 100 employees in their business, and it only continued to grow. In 2000, Germany and the Netherlands were also selling Skagen watches. Revolutionizing the watch industry, Skagen had grown into a monstrous corporate entity with 160 employees, 60 international markets, 250 unique watch designs, and over 5000 stores worldwide.
