Get Invited To Any Party Or Event Or Mingler

Networking is one of the most important skills you could master in both business and personal relationships

. Everyone likes to be around people who are the life of the party. Everyone wants to know the person who knows everyone.

So how do you become that person? The person that everyone invites to parties, who everyone wants to introduce to everyone?

==> Have a Contribution Mindset

Instead of a mindset of trying to "get" connections from others, the best way to build connections in general is to have a contribution mindset.

Any time you meet someone who you'd like to build a further connection with, ask yourself: How can you help this person?

Do you have a set of skills that they might benefit from? If so, offer to help them for free. Is there something you can do to help them achieve a goal of theirs? If you're unsure, ask.

Simply an "I'm good at X, if you ever need X I'll be happy to talk with you" can make a big difference.

==> Help People Meet People

Always be on the lookout for people you can connect.

If you meet someone who's a specialist in social media marketing and you know someone with a small business, make the introduction.

Keep business cards and take note on those business cards. If you regularly meet a lot of people, it can be quite difficult to remember who's who.

But if you write notes on people's business cards right after you meet them, you'll have a much better chance of remembering the people you meet.

If you make a valuable connection for someone, that's a debt they'll remember for a long time.

==> Host Your Own Event

If you really want to step up your networking game, consider hosting your own event.

Invite 20 to 50 high profile people that you yourself would like to meet.

These 20 to 50 people are likely to come, because they want to meet other high profile people as well.

For example, if you're hosting an event for the best economists in the world, they'll want to come because they want to network with the other best economists in the world.

Organizing your own event is time consuming and difficult, but if you pull it off it can skyrocket your rolodex overnight.

==> Follow Up With Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn

If you want people to invite you to events and introduce you to their contacts, you need to be fresh on their minds.

In today's digital age, it's not realistic to try and stay in close contact with everyone. However, using tools like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter it's very easy to stay in touch.

Just a "touch" every two weeks or so is enough. A comment left on a Facebook post, a @reply on Twitter or a comment on LinkedIn. You don't need to do much to keep a connection alive.

Work your contacts. Sometimes it takes weeks or months for someone to warm up to you.

If you get in the habit of helping others, connecting people, throwing events and regularly following up, your social network, connections and event invitations will increase dramatically.
