Ross-anne: How can a newsletter increase patient referrals?

Jon: Patient referrals are the holy grail of dental marketing. Every dentist wants patient referrals.

Why is that? Patient referrals are friends of your patients. Therefore theyre friends of yours. Your patients are going to refer people who they think are a good match for your practice. Its the best marketing in the world. But, somehow you need to get them.

So, how can a newsletter help with patient referrals? First of all, a newsletter, if its sent to your patients home is something that lives around the house. Its a beautiful piece of mail that they look at and read.

In a survey we did recently 9 out of 10 people said that theyd read a newsletter sent to them by their dentist. So these newsletters are going to be around the house and people are going to read them.

Theyre going to be on the counter in the kitchen and theyll make it to the bedroom and so forth.

Theyll provide top of mind awareness to your patients so when a friend or someone that they meet is looking for a dentist youll be there. Its top of mind reference that youre going to get from your newsletter.

Also, the instruction and education that theyll get from these newsletters is going to help them be more educated on dental practice services. When someone has a problem or issue they can speak intelligently about it and theyll feel comfortable referring you and giving information to friends.

Thats just one of the many, many ways a patient newsletter can help with patient referrals.
