Getting A Fair Price With Mazda Dealers
Buying a new car can be an exciting experience
, especially if you are buying your very first new car. There are many popular makes and models on today's market, so it is important that you choose wisely. When visiting your dealership it is important to know how to navigate the prices, the dealer costs, and how to negotiate to make sure that you are getting the absolute bottom dollar.
Understanding the process can be somewhat difficult as sometimes the Mazda dealers are benefitting from the profits made and other times they are just the middlemen in the process. One of the major ways that the dealer brings in profits is through the resale of used vehicle off of the customer trade-ins. Several things play a part of the price that you will pay for your new vehicle, some of which are the asking price, the "holdback", timely incentives, supply and demand, and the amount your trade-in is worth, if you have one.
The asking price is not the dealer's cost, however. The auto manufacturer actually returns a small portion of each vehicle that is sold at a particular dealership so that they can get their bills paid each month. This is referred to as the "holdback" and is not usually something that Mazda dealers will negotiate on.
Another thing that is good to find out during negotiations is whether or not your dealer is offering any incentives. These are popular during certain seasons, such as Fall and Winter when the dealerships desire to clear their lot to make way for the next year's models. These incentives usually include low financing or no payments for a specified time period.
Supply and demand play an important role in the price as well. Some cars are harder to find and may sell for higher prices in different areas. Some Mazda dealers will shop around at other area dealerships to see if your desired hard to find model is on their lot and can be delivered to you. The stock usually depends on how well the model has sold in years past.
Other factors that affect the price that you actually pay for your vehicle are the trade-in value of your current vehicle, which is usually very low. Often, you can sell your vehicle privately for a higher price. You also need to keep in mind that you will need to pay your state sales taxes, title and licensing fees, and insurance fees, depending on your state's requirements, on the day of purchase.
Before committing to a particular make and model, you should always shop around at various Mazda dealers in your area to compare the trade-in value of your vehicle and see what different incentives are available in various markets. There may also be different selections available. Also, check the Kelley Blue Book value of your vehicle before settling so that you are getting a fair market price for your just hand over your old vehicle.
