As we welcome the New Year, we should also say goodbye to the unneeded stuff we have at in our house that has been left untouched for the past year. Clutter is an accumulation of things that we no longer use yet cannot throw away. These are things that we thought would come in handy but we never get to use. It is time to get rid of your clutter.
Here are some tips on how to do it.
Sort out the things that you use.
Decide on the items that you want to keep and throw away. Everything that you use everyday is essential. Anything that you haven't used for the past three months are considered surplus, things that you haven't used for the past six months are unnecessary and those that you haven't used for a year are considered junk, therefore you should get rid of it immediately.
If we cannot let go of some our belongings we might as well organize.
Use a clutter box, for those you cannot store in the attic you can use a storage ottoman, this is not only useful in organizing our stuff but it can also be used as a living room or bedroom furniture. Get yourself a bookcase for your books and magazines. For important documents, you can put them inside an envelope and label them for easy identification and neatly stack them inside the drawers.
What to do with your clutter?
We can make money out of this unneeded stuff. We can open a garage sale. Some people might be interested in some of our old stuff.
Recycle. Some of our bedroom furniture like lamps and old desk can be repainted or fixed.
Since it's the Christmas season, donate. You can give it away to charity.
Wouldn't it be nice to live in a clutter free home.
