Getting Through The Worst Times Of Your Life - How You Can Make It When You Are Falling Apart

Do you ever feel like you are just doing all you can to hold things together? Like at any moment you might completely fall apart and your world come unhinged? Like you are going through something so hard that you really don't know if you are going to make it or not? When I am going through these incredibly terrible times, of which there have only been a few moments like this in my whole life, I call it "being crumbly". I will never forget one of the more recent times that I felt this way. I was talking to my girlfriend, we had just received incredibly awful news. We were walking around in a Wal-Mart just to talk and spend time with each other. I felt like I was literally crumbling from the inside, as if I might actually fall down in a pool of tragedy right there in the Wal-Mart. These are times so bad that if you are thinking you have had lots of them you are painting with too broad a brush. I am talking about the most genuinely awful times of your life. How do you make it through these times and come out somehow ahead on the other side? The first piece of advice I will give you is to quickly get around people you can trust and that you know love you. You may need to literally hold on to this person and feel them beside you. The closer the two of you are emotionally the more effective this will be. The worst way to handle a "crumbly" moment is to do it alone. Next when you are going through one of these moments realize that it is ok to cry. Guys I know this is hard for some of you especially if there is a woman around. Forget about your machismo for a minute and realize your mental health is at stake here. Let the tears flow, it is a proven fact that certain hormones are released in your tears that actually make you feel better. So having a good cry can actually have really positive benefits for you. Take the problems you are experiencing in day tight packages. What I mean here is that the day presents troubles enough to fill up itself. Stop thinking about all the pain that your current situation is going to cause you in the future and think only about how you are going to make it through the next 24 hours. If possible try to set up positive treats in the next 24 hours that will give you motivation to get through the pain that you feel. Whatever you do though make sure you focus on the next 24 hours only and not the big picture. I am not a psychologist, but I am a guy who has felt crumbly in my life and in my relationships enough times to know how to tell you how to get out of it.
