Getting Your Blogging Productivity Levels Up

Most bloggers "hit a wall" at some point in their blogging experience where they feel their blog isn't performing up to expectations. There are many different reasons this can happen but addressing the issues below can help turn things around.

Write down your ideas for blog posts as you think of them. Your time is valuable don't waste it trying to rush ideas when there are none. Ideas come to you at strange and random times. You really never know when inspiration will strike, it can even happen while browsing in a bookstore. Keep a small notebook handy so that you can easily write them down as they occur. If you do this one thing you'll never be short on blog post ideas again. Keep in mind that some of them may not seem as brilliant when you get to them later so be prepared to sift through them and only keep the winners. There will be some that still strike a chord and some that don't sound quite as smart upon second glance; keep the great ones and let the others go when the time to write comes along.

It's important to get rid of things that distract you so that you can really get to work. Getting back in the rhythm and flow you had before is much more difficult once your concentration has been broken - so avoid as many distractions as possible. Schedule breaks to deal with phone calls, appointments, instant messages, etc. so that it doesn't interfere with your work.

Stop checking email at all hours and save it for certain times too. It's important that you fill your work time with stuff that is productive for your work and nothing else. It takes a lot of discipline but the rewards are plentiful.

It's also good to begin at the same time every day thus creating a schedule you can consistently follow. It's good to plan to blog at times every day when you are the most alert and productive to get the best results. Setting alarms for when you should begin your writing is a good way to trigger your creative juices and keep you on task every day. If you're new to the fine art of working according to a schedule you might want to incorporate it into other areas of your life than just writing your blog. If you build a strong foundation first, you will end up being more productive from that point forward. Many times you may miss out on great opportunities to take your blog to the next level, just because you're not ready for it. To avoid missing these opportunities, slowly improve your productivity little by little so you can keep your readers pleased.
