There are two very popular forms of blogs, the free method is using a blogger.com blog. This is a very easy way to get started but there are some criteria you should be aware of. Google owns blogger.com and basically anything that you put on your blog is theirs, and they can shut down your blog anytime they want to. This would be a real bummer if you had your blog running for a long period of time and lost everything on it. Also blogger blogs have limitations on what you are able to do with them, a lot of the options that we want and need are not there.

Most people who are serious about having a professional looking blog on the internet to promote themselves or their products seem to like using a self hosted wordpress blog much more. This is my opinion as well, if however you are trying to get started with very little money, then go ahead and use blogger.com. Another big reason a lot of people use blogger is that they do not feel like they can set up a wordpress blog on their own.

I don't know if it is a lack of confidence or if they just are not serious about starting a home based business, but I can tell you that is it very easy to install and set up wordpress. Even if you do come across any problems , there is so much help available from wordpress in easy to follow step by step instructions to help you do it right. Do not get me wrong here, it is better to get started with a free blog than to not get started at all. You should also know that not all hosting companies are the same, and they all do not offer all of the options that are necessary to have a successful blog or website. If you want the best chance at succeeding, then just start by using the most recognized Hosting platform available today.

Now as far as your domain name goes, it will help you much more if you can use some of the keywords from your niche research that you should have completed. A keyword rich domain name with a high search volume will get you much more traffic to your site. You

can register a domain name with any company you like but there are some differences between them, I use only one Domain Name Registrar myself and have dozens of names with them and have never had any problems. Just type in keywords into the domain name search and see if you can come up with one that is still available, always go with a .com if at all possible.

If you can not come up with one that is still available then just try to add an additional word to the beginning or the end of the name. something like Best-Free-Tips, or anything you feel like adding that you think will work. Remember that if you can have good keywords in your domain name, it is going to help you with search engine optimization and higher ranking and more traffic to your site.
