Theres still great friction resistance and durability. That hasnt been compromised. If youre a homeowner with a driveway helplessly riddled with cracks due to tree roots snaking beneath it, Lavery said the driveway can be fixed and the trees can be saved.

When we remove a driveway, we preserve the trees; if it takes excavating around roots thats what well do, Lavery said. People dont want to lose the trees in their front yard, even if theyre interfering with their driveway.

Once you have a new or fully repaired driveway in place, Lavery recommends re-sealing it every other year, and dont shop price when it comes to sealant. You will get what you pay for, and you really should use a professional when it comes to seal coating, Lavery said. We bring in commercial-grade sealant in a big truck and use what we need. If youre buying sealant yourself, theres really no safe way to dispose of any excess. You cant wash it down a drain. It just makes more sense to have a professional company do it for you.
