Large temperature swings of 70 degrees or more are not good for a glass sink, but this is usually not a problem for the average home. You won't want to pour scalding water down a glass sink either, since it can crack the glass. If the glass does crack, it will need to be completely replaced. (Just as an aside, this can also happen with a traditional porcelain sink.)

If you decide to install a glass sink yourself, bear in mind that you will not use a wrench to attach the drain. Hand tighten it only. One tip suggested by installers is to add a bead of silicone when attaching the drain to prevent metal from contacting the glass.
