It is essential to check the dates of application to ones selected graduate schools. The test, thus, should be taken at a time which is well in advance of the college application process. No college offers the facility to even fill application forms without the GMAT score card. The test is generally conducted on a national basis. It has often been seen that students prefer to appear for the exam towards the end of the year. In that case, they should register themselves three months before their chosen test date. If a student selects a date in any of the first 8 months of the year, registration should be completed before 15 days. The test date may however be modified by the authorities if too many students have opted for a certain date.

One can also reschedule ones test dates by providing an extra fee for the process. If one reschedules ones date at least 7 days before the original date, the fee charged is $50. On the other hand, one has to pay $250 if one wants a change of his date later than that. One can cancel ones test date altogether as well. For that, one is charged $10. In fact, there is also the advantage of canceling a test which has already been taken in case the candidate is not gratified with his performance. One can opt for a fresh date according to his or her convenience. However, the maximum number of times one can sit for GMAT in a year is five.
