Golf Vacations: Where To Play, Where To Stay, And What To Pay
Taking a golf vacation can be a fun and relaxing getaway for those that enjoy spending time on the green
. Despite their simplicity though, golf vacations can end up costing a pretty penny if you don't budget yourself and shop around wisely. Choosing the right location for your golf vacation depends on how much you have to spend, what kind of amenities you crave and how long you're trip will be.
Most golf courses and resorts charge anywhere from $12 to $65 per day for a day of play. If you're on a budget, it's a good idea to choose a place on the lower end of the spectrum to spend the majority of your golf vacation at but you should also keep a few other expenses in mind. If you are a regular golfer and plan on golfing more in the future, it might be a good idea to invest in some golf clubs and lots of golf balls in advance. Most golf courses charge upwards of $50 per day to rent golf clubs and balls but you can get a used set of golf clubs for around $250. If you're taking a golf getaway of at least 5 days, you might be better off purchasing your own used clubs than renting. Golf all the time or plan on taking more trips? You might want to invest in a brand new pair of clubs, which can cost anywhere from $300- $3,000 depending on the brand name and quality of the golf clubs. The more you pay, the higher quality clubs you will end up with and the more use you will end up getting out of them.
Another expense to keep in mind with golf vacations is golf cart rentals. Of course you don't need a golf cart because you can walk most courses on foot, but if you are not used to long strolls or want a place to rest in between holes a golf cart is a good idea. Most places charge about $12 on average per day to rent a golf cart.
Finally, you need to consider if you want to stay at a golf resort or just an inexpensive hotel nearby. Some resorts offer discounted golf course rates to their guests or you can purchase your stay and golf games as a package. Depending on what you're looking for, you should be able to find a plan that works for you depending on your budget. If you don't have a lot to spend, you might find that staying in an inexpensive hotel near a reasonably priced golf course is your best bet.
No matter how you decide to stay or what you decide to spend, golf vacations can be the answer to an expert or even a novice golfer's prayers and provide a fun, relaxing vacation.
