Company slogans can be defined as phrases which are used to define and distinguish a company and/or its goals. A slogan has the power to draw customers into the company (if the slogan is attractive) or repel customers from the company (if the slogan is unappealing). This shows the importance of acquiring a good slogan for a company. There are a few aspects to be considered when designing a good slogan.
The most important aspect of a slogan is its content. Content refers to what information is given to the customer through the slogan. Content serves to inform the customer about the company. Ideally, the slogan should be able to give the customer a summary of the company's goals. In order for the customer to remember the slogan (and thereby the company), it should be presented to the customer in an attractive manner. The proper use of words is the next important aspect of designing a slogan. Words used in the slogan should be attractive. Thesaurus dictionaries can be useful when searching for words which have a similar meaning. If possible, words used in the slogan should rhyme with each other. Psychological research has proven that people remember rhyming phrases more easily than non-rhyming phrases.
The slogan should be an enthusiastic slogan and not a lethargic one. An enthusiastic slogan is one which is both exciting and has a certain degree of humor. An enthusiastic slogan will propel the customer to perform an action, such as purchasing a product. People will remember a humorous slogan more easily than a very serious slogan, but extreme caution should be taken not to overdo the humor aspect'. Otherwise the company slogan will morph into a joke. All these aspects should be considered when designing company slogans.
