Good Content Is Imperitive
People surf the Web looking for informative, as well as entertaining subject matter
. When they find it, they do not mind remaining on the site of their choosing.
When people find content that is well written, enjoyable to read, and informative they feel like they are being entertained and helped at the same time. Any content manager will tell you that it is one of the best tools to bring in new visitors.
Fresh content can be as a magnet when your target audience is supplied with valuable helpful articles, that relate to their interests.
It is no secret, the twenty first century birthed a new era of information products and services. There are now more consulting firms, advertising companies, e-zines, e-books and other data transmission businesses, then there have ever been. These all have in common the fact that they sell or resell communications.
Articles have a way of being likened to word of mouth advertisments. They often do not directly sell a product or service, but simply convey the benefits and helps of knowing inside information.
For example, say you own a website where customers can order building materials directly through your site. They chose your site, because they wanted to build a deck for their patio, and the keywords they used in their online search, "How To Construct A Deck" resulted in landing on your page.
Instead of just finding a place to order lumber, they wanted as well some information on "how to." Your site included free content which gave them printable instructions on "how to" do just that.
Because you provided for free, content which was useful to their wants or needs, you became their choice.
They read the instructions, decide "I can do this" myself, and end up buying nearly a thousand dollars of material--ordering through your website!
So it is easy to see how content that helps address their specific needs resulted in an indirect purchase. The articles you had posted on your site in effect acted as an indirect sales person!
The article did not exactly "sell," the prospect, but it did play a huge role in having them choose your site to purchase from. The customer is glad he found the instruction, for they proved to be helpful, so he rewarded your site with his purchase.
This strategy is used by all who are the mega-sellers on the Web. Why? Because it is a proven technique, as well as a win-win exchange between customer and buyer.
If you have a website that offers products/services and want to greatly increase your online sales, whether it be cosmetics, lumber, office supplies or pet care products, what is said in the content does matter greatly.
