To make a call you should first enter a specific number, which is different for each country. Then your call is rerouted to a VOIP line (voice over Internet protocol). So, you won't be connected through the standard landline system, but through an internet based system (a fibre optic cable). Via the VOIP calling system many calls can be made at the same time and that is why this service is so cheap it may costs only 1.5 pence per minute.
