We live in a world dominated by speed. Everything has to happen lightening fast, including finding appropriate search results. The quicker results have been achieved, the happier a web user will be. Google is quite aware of this trend and, therefore, came up with a new, brilliant idea. It recently announced its newest interface, Google Instant.

Google Instant is an enhancement program that auto-loads search results as you type. Having a series of search suggestions at hands speeds up the search process, and gives web users hints on searches they may have otherwise not even considered.

Adding an instant search feature was a logical step in Google's enhancement process. As it seems, people read faster than they type about 300 milliseconds between keystrokes They can scan parts of a webpage as they type. So, why not use this knowledge, and implement it in Google's search component.

It is quite convenient to see search content as you type. If one of the suggestions in the drop box fits, just click on it. No need to finish typing your sentence. Other benefits include:

Faster searches Showing possible search results, can save anywhere from 2 to 5 seconds per search as you do not need to finish typing your query request.

Logical predictions When you are not quite sure what to type into your search box, Google Instant can make intelligent suggestions. Once you see what you need just click on the suggestion and wait for the results to appear.

Better search terms Because Google shows you a wide variety of suggestions, you may end up picking a better query than the one you originally had in mind. More targeted search results will bring you the information you were looking for much faster. This is great for the users, but how will this affect the SEO practitioners? Time will tell.

Instant results Results appear as you type, even if you did not quite finish your full search term yet. With every letter you enter, you'll be heading into the right query direction, even when you are researching "SEO Singapore."

Time saver - it does not cost you any time to glance over the results as you type in your characters. It will actually save you time if you can find your search term way before you finish typing in your entire search request.

Eliminating spelling mistakes - Web users who have trouble spelling will also benefit greatly from Google Instant. With words and phrases showing up as users are typing, they will no longer have to guess the correct spelling of an item, name or place.

Technically, G.I. (Google Instant) is amazing, as it really displays search suggestions, well, instantly! Sure, it may not guess right away what you are looking for, but it will get closer with every additional character you type. Eventually the displayed results will be right on the money.

Every key stroke counts. For instance, typing in "SEO" is a good start when researching SEO practices in Singapore, but you can end up with a truck load of query results, as this is a broad topic. Entering "SEO Sin" will narrow down the query to 4 results, one of which is "SEO Singapore." As you can see, each character counts to properly narrow down the search results.

It is obvious that Google Instant is not going to save you hours of search time a month. Even so, every second counts, and with this added interface, Google is, once again, leaping one step forward into bringing perfect search solutions to their users.

Note: Remember that G.I. is only a starting point, rather than a conclusion. If you do not like the feature you can ignore the query suggestions, or simply deactivate the interface. To turn off G.I., click on the link next to the search box of any results page. You can also disable the Instant feature from your "preferences" page.
