Series & Grade: Are you qualified/experienced enough for the position being announced. Make SURE you are eligible for the position: There is certain terminology in order to assess whether you may even apply for the available position: A. General Public - To apply for a job that is open to the General Public, the only basic requirement is that you must be a United States citizen. There is no requirement for previous government service or government "status". B. Current and Former Federal Employees To apply for a job that is open to Current and Former Federal Employees, you must have status or be eligible under a special appointment authority. C. National Archives Employees Only: To apply for a job that is open to National Archives Employees Only, you must be currently working for NARA on a career or career-conditional appointment, or working for NARA under a special appointing authority (e.g., Veterans Recruitment Appointment, Disabilities Program).

Make SURE you have an EFFECTIVE FEDERAL RESUME: Unlike a civilian resume, Government resumes are different from standard civilian resumes in both format and content.
