Grades of Diamond Clarity
The quality of the diamond with respect to the internal defects (inclusions) and surface defects (blemishes) is called Diamond Clarity. It is one of the 4C's of diamond grading and the rest being carat, color and cut. Crystals of a foreign material or another crystal or structural imperfections such as tiny cracks, are the internal defects known as Inclusions. The factors that affect the clarity of this precious stone are number, size, color, relative location, orientation, and visibility of inclusions.
The grade for the clarity is assigned as per the overall appearance under a 10x magnification. The grades range from internally flawless where the diamonds don't have any kind of inclusions or blemishes; to Imperfect 3 where the diamonds have large and heavy inclusions and blemishes that are even visible to the naked eye.
