How to Choose the Right Jewelry
You are probably used to co-coordinating your jewelry with your outfits but many people forget to take into account the shape and size of their body parts when choosing the right items.
To make the best of your appearance you should select jewelry that complements your appearance so bear in mind the following pointers:
Neckwear:
To appear taller than you are, choose necklaces and pendants that are longer. If you wear V or Y shaped chains they can make you look longer. Make sure they fall below your bust line but above your waist however.
If you are already tall and don't want to draw attention to this DO NOT wear long necklaces. Instead choose ones that are shorter and that fall around the area of your neck and collarbone. Chokers are great for this purpose.
Consider your bone structure and be aware that fine delicate jewelry suits better a fine-boned person than heavy chunky jewelry does.
For the fuller-figured or larger-boned person, large chunky stones and thick links work better and you will best suit a necklace that has a little bit of volume.
If you are petite larger jewelry may not look right on you and you may want to choose something more delicate and finer links.
Earrings:
Consider the shape of your face and length of your neck when it comes to earrings. There are four basic shapes to the face oval, round, square or heart-shaped.
If you have the oval shape then you can wear more or less any style well.
If you have a round face you will want to make it appear less round so don't get button studs, hoops or other round shapes In this case use longer earring or wear square and rectangular shapes when wearing shorted styles.
With a square-style face try to avoid dangling earrings as this will make your face appear longer still. .Smaller studs will work well here.
For heart-shaped face (thinner at the chin) use earrings that make the chin appear wider so triangular shapes or chandelier style drops, where the bottom is wider than the drop, work for you.
Bracelets:
Should be co-coordinated best with your rings as you often have your hands near your face so the bracelet and rings needs to suit your face as well as your hands or arms.
Petite or small-boned people suit delicate wristbands or links and rings should be smaller.
Large-boned people are better suited to chunky styles and larger stones. You may also be interested in a wide bangle or full set of them.
If your fingers are short delicate rings and those in an oval setting suit well and tend to detract from the length.
If you have longer fingers, round set rings or wider bands will suit you best.
Whatever your hand/finger shapes avoid rings that come up above the knuckle bone as it doesn't usually look good AND it is uncomfortable.
