, Morzine in France may just be for you. Sometimes, a great skiing holiday location can be virtually ruined by poor quality chalets.Morzine in France doesn't make that mistake.

If you think that the above comment on chalets is an overstatement, well, you may have simply been very lucky on your previous skiing trips.There is nothing worse than having a great day on the slopes, only for the day to end with you dreading the return to a mediocre chalet. If your chalet is cold, too cramped or simply in the wrong location, it can easily overshadow the joy of being able to participate in one of your favourite activities.Not too many people enjoy extensive hikes to get to ski lifts, or the need to pack a rucksack with supplies when leaving your chalet so that you can survive the lengthy forced march to get the nearest restaurant.

The reality is that some Alpine ski resorts have a rather better reputation than others with regards to the accommodation and facilities. For great skiing and chalets, Morzine may take some beating. The resort is one of the more northerly of the French ski resorts and offers not only a great selection of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, but also some very attractive skiing and a good infrastructure.

Skiing is typically available from the latter part of December through to the end of April and this is made possible not only by its proximity to Mont Blanc, with its famed microclimate, but also by the fact that many of the slopes are on pasture land as opposed to rocks. There are a large number of slopes to choose from, ranging from the most basic and gentle nursery slopes right up to a number of black runs that are regarded as some of the most challenging around, even for expert and professional skiers. There is also a wide availability of other snow related leisure activities, including things such as snowboarding and cross-country snowshoeing.

Not only does it have a good selection of chalets, Morzine also offers some great aprs-ski opportunities including some great restaurants and places where you can take some liquid refreshment to fortify yourself for the next day's activities!

There are a number of ways of getting to this charming resort.The nearest international airport in Geneva provides air access with a train connection at Thonon-Les-Bains.From Thonon there are connecting bus services to Morzine. In terms of chalets, the area around Morzine has a particularly picturesque setting with much of the accommodation effectively straddling a small gorge and valley.Some of the chalets come into the luxury category and are superbly equipped, whilst others may be more simply furnished while still retaining a high degree of comfort and charm.

If you would like your experiences of uncomfortable and inadequate chalets to be entirely restricted to listening to other people's horror stories, your first step to achieving that might be to give this resort serious consideration as your holiday destination.
