Great Thrift Store Finds

I'm a big fan of shopping at the thrift store in my neighborhood and have been doing it for many years

. Since I first began this hobby, I have stumbled upon an incredible amount of fantastic deals and unique items. I am constantly trying to get my friends to start thrift shopping, too. There is truly limitless variety at these stores, the prices are incredible and the search is fun.

Shoes are one of my weaknesses and I have found more than one shoe love goldmine during my years of thrift shopping. I once found gorgeous knee-high leather boots for less than $10! They were in excellent condition and, wonders of wonders, were even in my size! When I became a mother, I found that used shoes are a great way to avoid buying expensive new shoes that your kids will grow out of well before they are worn.

Brand name clothes are also not out of the question when it comes to shopping at a secondhand store. Amidst all the ordinary clothes, there will always be a good amount of high end labels. This goes for adult wear as well as kids stuff.

While I bring my children along when I go to the mall, I leave everyone at home when I'm thrift store shopping. They are bound to get bored because shopping used takes much more time. My older children are happy in the used book section when I do bring them along, but my youngsters are just a hassle. I recommended leaving your kids at home for a better shopping experience.

Another one of my favorite secondhand shopping stories is when I went to a local store that sells exclusively high end, pre-owned clothes. I couldn't believe how many great brands they had! All my favorites were beautifully arranged on stylish racks. The dressing rooms were clean, private and comfortable.

This experience always surprises people when I tell them about it. Most people assume that thrift stores are dusty, dirty and dim. If you are looking for the nicest used clothes possible, find a high end shop in your area. You will never think of a secondhand store the same!

At that first classy used clothing store I went to, I was able to find the perfect dress. It was under $50 and I felt absolutely gorgeous when I wore it.

I brought my friends with me to that classy store because I knew we would all enjoy the experience. If you are a thrift store newbie, ask a more experienced friend to come along with you. Shopping together is always more fun and, chances are, she has her own tips and tricks for getting the best deals on the best items.
