Green Home Designs Are Predominately From Nature

Natural building is another name for green home designs

. These buildings focus on the use of locally available natural materials. When people begin to use these designs to build their homes, they do not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs to build homes for themselves. It aims to reduce the impact of the building on the environment. The first rule to be followed in this direction is to build compact structures instead of in a hap hazardous sprawling fashion because a large amount of land is used to construct one building.

Green building materials include lumber from forests that is certified to be cut in limited quantities with the provision that newer plants are grown. Then, there are rapidly renewable plant material e.g. bamboo that can be used extensively for green home designs. Other renewable building material can be recycled stone, metal and other non-toxic and reusable stuff e.g. sheep wool, panels made from used and recycled paper, wood fiber plates, sandstone, compressed earth blocks etc. If its possible, building material should be extracted and manufactured close to the building site so that minimum energy is used for its transportation. If this is not possible, it will be better if building elements are manufacture off-site but at the same time maximizing the possibility of recycling and also contributing to generating less noise and dust.

Green home designs also take into consideration ways and measures to reduce energy consumption. These are of two kinds the embodied energy that is necessary to extract, process, transport and install all the building materials and the energy that will be required for heating and the power required for equipment. Water conservation is also an important aspect of Home Plan Designs. This can be accomplished by designing dual plumbing that helps in recycling water accumulated from the kitchen and flushing toilets. Low flush toilets and shower heads that have a low flow also helps. If there are bidets, it eliminates using toilet paper that is obtained from trees. Also, if there is no paper, the sewage water can be treated and reused for irrigating kitchen gardens and backyards instead of using clean drinking water. Illuminating the building by carefully integrating daylight and electrical light sources will improve the light inside the house and at the same time, reduce dependence on power.

Indoor air quality can also be controlled by preventing the accumulation of moisture that leads to growth of molds and bacteria as well as dust mites and other micro organisms. If there is intrusion of water through the enveloping material around a building, or water condensing on cold surfaces, it can spurt bacterial growth. Therefore, the building should be well insulated to reduce problems arising from moisture. Adequate ventilation is necessary to remove moisture from indoor sources cooking, bathing, cleaning and other activities.
