CAT aspirants burn the midnight oil to get a decent score? Why so? So that they can get a seat in the B school of their choice. But I must tell you that there are a few things that you must take into consideration before you make that very crucial decision of your life. This decision could either make or break your entire career. So make sure you take your steps wisely.

First and foremost, checkout whether the institute is a recognized one or not. Your career depends upon it so you must be very cautious. An institute which awards a Post Graduate Diploma in Management must be certified by the AICTE and also recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). If you want a full fledged degree as an MBA, then please see to it that the institution is registered under the University Grants Commission. Only then can you trust these institutes with your life if and only if they satisfy these essential criteria. Frankly, MBA is a professional course and pretty expensive too. Then why expose yourself to an irreparable damage?

Secondly, the components of the courses are what you need to look at. The more updated the curriculum; more are your chances of being given education that can compete with international standards. There are many Business Schools which are involved with reputed international universities. In such cases you can make sure that they will provide you with the latest course structure. Also make it a point to check their infrastructure. An institution which does not have adequate infrastructure can cost you your career. On the other hand, if everything is in place, then you can be sure of a successful career ahead of you.

While I am at it, I must also not forget to mention what an important part the faculty plays in building your career. Try and find out about the faculty of the B school you plan to choose. Good teachers who are well read and are well experienced can organize your curriculum in the best possible manner. They would be well versed with the pattern of questions and would be able to prepare you in the best possible manner. An institute which has enough teachers should always be preferred. If the number of teachers is less, then there are chances that classes will not be held properly.

After having checked all of this, kindly find out whether there is a proper placement cell in the institution. If yes, then please try to enquire about the companies which approach the institute for hiring employees. Only after you are satisfied with what you have found, go ahead.
