It is the duty of the car owner to regularly check the air pressure of the tires and add air on monthly or weekly basis
. One cannot tell by just looking or kicking at the tire if it needs air.
Here is a simple guide for inflating tires. Follow the directions.
Tools Needed
-Gas Station or Garage with Pressurized Air
-Tire pressure Gauge
Guidelines
Step 1:
Go to a gas station or garage has the facility of a gauge and pressurized air.
Step 2:
The car should be parked in a way so that the air pipe will easily reach every tire.
Step 3:
The air pressure instructions of the vehicles tires have to be checked. A sticker is pasted at the side door of the driver, in the glove compartment or in the truck.
Step 4:
Unscrew the plastic cap present on the air valve. Put it in your pocket or in a safe place so that it will not get misplaced.
Step 5:
Now check the air pressure, you can use your own tire-pressure gauge or the one available at the gas station. Press the gauge against the valve firmly held down. If you hear a hissing sound, then it means that the air is leaking, so press harder.
Step 6:
Now add air while squeezing the lever on the end of the hose, press the air pump hose on the valve.
Step 7:
Use the gauge for checking air pressure. Use the one on the air pump hose.
Step 8:
Deflate the tires if they accidently get overfilled. Press the small needle in the center of the valve to let the air escape. A pen or a fingernail will also work.
Tips and Precautions
-If the tires need air at every air check, then ask the tire shop to inspect for any leaks.
-Dont forget to check the spare tire and add air as required.
-A good quality tire-pressure gauge must be kept in the glove compartment.
-Look at the tires sidewall to know the air-pressure specifications.
-To get a correct air pressure, it is important to use a tire-pressure gauge.
-If you check the tire pressure monthly, then a good tire shop will be definitely having an air pressure pump.
