Joined a new company and groping in the dark? It can be a daunting experience especially in the initial few days when you are almost invisible to people around you. Few people recognize you and fewer can recall your name.
Here is how you can attain the level of comfort and make yourself a known person in the office.
1.Do not restrict yourself to peers only in your department. Mingle with people across all departments or one pretext or another.
2.Lunch out with a bunch of people continuously for few days initially. Chip in to treat them (can be costly but will make you famous instantly).
3.Telephone operators, liftmen; security guards and receptionists are key contact points. Establish contacts with them and inform them where your work and with whom.
1.Throw away shyness in meetings and when associating yourself with higher management. This is the time for a firm handshake, a warm smile and open conversation that will make you noticeable.
2.Wear a nametag, sounds funny but will do the trick of knowing who you are.
3.Move around the office area frequently for no reason at all to bump into various employees and strike conversation with them.
4.Greet people in lifts and parking areas to know their names and area of work.
5.Wear striking colours and dresses to be noticed.
6.Throw compliments at almost everybody to get noticed.
And when nothing works, throw a party at your house and invite as many people from work as you can.
