Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the more influential guitarists of our lifetime and
sadly he lost his life when on August 27, 1990, the helicopter he was in crashed into a ski slope in East Troy, Wisconsin. His albums and his awesome blues electric guitar playing still inspire generations of musicians, which include many of the worlds major guitarists, and no question with the passing of time, this will not ever change.

1. Stevie Ray Vaughan was born on Oct 3, 1954 in Dallas Tx though moved to Austin at the age of 17. He was the younger brother Jimmie Vaughan also a highly acclaimed guitarist. He was known by by his initials SRV which he famously wore on the scratch plate of his Fender Stratocaster electric guitar.
2. In the beginning SRV formed a band called Triple Threat Review which later developed to become the blues rockband Double Trouble in 1978. Double Trouble recorded 4 studio albums which included popular debut project Texas Flood in 1983, which was a massive breakthrough success.
3. Stevie Ray was a remarkably emotional and melodic guitarist and made use of many vintage guitars and amps to generate his trademark sound. As opposed to a great many other major guitar players, Stevie Ray favoured making use of particularly heavy strings on his electric guitars to further hone his renowned personal tone from his Stratocaster's guitar pickups.
