In the last issue we talked about the first step on how to get rid of stress now. That first step was defining what stress means to you. The benefit of defining it was that it immediately gives you a sense of power and puts the control squarely in your hands.

So, now that you have defined stress for yourself, it's time to move onto step 2.

Step 2 is to identify your biggest stressors and then take the necessary action to deal with them. In other words, get to the source of your stress and begin immediately to put measures in place to turn it around. For example, in what situations do you find yourself the most "stressed"? At what times do you find yourself the most "stressed"? With what people do you find yourself the most "stressed"?

Once you identify them, you can begin to do something about them. Some will be easier than others to deal with. Some you will be able to do immediately. For the more challenging ones, it may take a serious commitment.

Why? Because looking at what's not working in your life and then taking the appropriate steps until you have reached your desired end results is not the easiest thing in the world to do. But, if you're committed, you will succeed.

For example, sometimes you have to take big steps like ending a romantic relationship, quitting a job, starting a new career or letting go of old "friendships" that no longer serve you.

Now, in some situations, you may not want to make the changes because they will take too much work, too painful, they will be too scary, they may appear to be unnecessary, but I can and do assure you, it is much more stressful to keep doing the things that don't work than it is to do what is necessary. It is often the resistance to the change that causes more stress. The resistance is completely unnecessary when you see how easy it will be to make the changes. In addition, on the other side of that resistance to change is freedom.

Once you've identified some of your biggest stressors, you can easily move on to step three.
