HP Launches Envy 17 3D Laptop Now | Papatek with Laptop

The latest laptop from HP is full of all the things that make a laptop amazing, including the HP Envy 14 Beats Edition and the HP Envy 17 3D -- a 17-inch Envy with a 3D display.

The upcoming of HP Envy 17 3D gives 3D capabilities to what was already a very impressive 17 inch laptop. The Envy 17 3D features a 17.3 inch 3D Ultra Bright View display, with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. There is also an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor on-board, and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics to help drive all those pixels into place. The Envy 17 3D ships with AMD active shutter glasses for 3D viewing, so there's no getting away from the I wear my sunglasses at night' vibe of the current 3D media industry. Besides, the Envy has ATI graphics rather than Nvidia, and comes with HP-branded specs based on technology from a company called XpanD. It also comes with some sample 3D video from the 2010 NBA All-Star Game.

Entertainment is the most point with this computer, with the addition of a slot-loading Blu-ray ROM drive that also supports regular DVDs and CDs. You can configure up to 8GB of RAM, and a dual hard drive up to a massive 2TB in size. The keyboard is designed in an island style, with backlit operation and the inclusion of a numeric keypad.

Connectivity is extensive, with Intel Wireless-N WiFi, HDMI, three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, and a 5 in 1 card reader. While the omission of any USB 3.0 ports is a shame, everything else seems to be well taken care of. However, while all of these specs may be good, it is the included 3D technology that is most likely to define this machine.

HP's ENVY 17 3D is available now directly from HP with pricing starting at $1,599.99, and options are available in terms of RAM, hard drive size, and Windows 7 operating systems. Expect it to cost a lot more if you want to get fancy.
