The body expends its energy attempting to heal itself, thereby leaving little energy to support less important cell growth like what is required for the hair. However, this is only a temporary condition and in a few months, the hair usually grows back.
Chemicals or medicines given for treating ailments like high blood pressure, arthritis, chemotherapy, depression, surgery recovery and some kinds of birth control, too, can trigger hair loss. Once the medication stops, the hair tends to grow back.
